West Side Story. Thats Right...It's Shakespeare

Oh Yea! That's Right! You thought," justin, there is now way you can keep going on this Shakespeare crap".  WELL THINK AGAIN SUCKKKA!!! I'M JUST GETTING STARTED!!! Now we can look at one of the most famous musicals in theater history that is influenced by the most famous love story in the history of the English language. (you can take that as a fact of opinion if you want, go ask a scholar, they will tell you the same thing) Romeo and Juliet has been made into many new renditions in the modern age, most notably the Romeo+Juliet starring Leonardo DiCaprio. But that was still using the original dialog from the script in a modern setting. With West Side Story, the time, setting, ethnicity, and language are changed completely, yet the underlining Shakespeare pokes his head out very prominently in the plot and structure of the play. the only plot difference would be the ending. in R&J both the protagonists die tragically unknowing "burring their parents strife". in WSS, The main male Tony is the only one to die while his love, Maria lives on after the play is over. however the end is still tragic enough to end the feud of the fighting gangs from with they come from. so see! Shakespeare is everywhere!!!
